I figured, after four years of silence, it was time to break cover and explain what's been happening to and with me since I last posted anything here.
Back in May 2021 I posted that I'd started making tentative steps in radio broadcasting. This was predicated by my good friend Graham Harfleet, who took my initial attempt at putting a show together and incorporated it into his own show on Progzilla Radio , and who then encouraged me to cover for his show on a couple of occasions. Subsequent to that, I was offered my own show on the station.
That became my principal outlet for musical reflection - hence my silence here. Since starting with Progzilla in August 2021 I've now been given three shows on the station:
- The Flight of The Sky Pilot (named after this blog), which goes out on the third Sunday of the month from 6pm - 8pm UK time, and features 'progressive' music (as defined by me!) from across the years and across the genres;
- Do You Remember...?, which is broadcast on the first Sunday of the month, again from 6-8pm UK, and focusses on music from the formative years of 'progressive music', which I take as any time up to the end of the 1980s;
- Epic Sundays, the latest addition to my roster, which airs when there is a fifth Sunday in the month, from 3-6pm UK, and is aimed at aficionados of the longer song, playing nothing under 10 minutes in length and occasionally straying into 30- and 40-minute tracks.
If you want to check out any of my shows, they can be found on my Presenter Page on the station website.
I am hoping, as 2026 opens up, to be a little more active here as well as on air, so keep watching for more news/ reflection/ etc. This blog is still getting plenty of attention, even in my absence, so thanks for sticking with me, or for discovering my ramblings during my hiatus.
Watch this space...
